Big Blue Express

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is The Big Blue Express?

The Big Blue Express is 25 feet long and can fit through a standard 36” doorway, allowing the train to travel inside to give indoor rides if your space allows.

What if it rains or snows?

Since most festivals and events are booked on a RAIN or SHINE basis, we will be there. Our train has covered passenger seating. The train will drive in small amounts of snow.

What happens if I need to cancel?

If you decide to cancel your event, we will still need to be paid the deposit, since scheduling the train for your event would have kept us from booking the train for someone else.

Can I reschedule?

Possibly… if scheduling allows for it. Some months are busier than others. You would not loss the deposit but there would be a reschedule fee of $50. Since scheduling your event would have kept us from booking another event.

Can the train be decorated for an event?

Yes. For $25 we can decorate the train with one of our pre-set designs. We have Halloween, Christmas, Princess, Pirate and Safari, Star Wars and if you have a theme you are interested in, we would love to work it with you.

How fast does the train go?

The Big Blue Express travels at a maximum speed of 5 mph. Safety is our top priority, so each passenger car has seat belts for everyone to wear.

What type of events is the train suited for?

Our train can be used for festivals, birthday parties, corporate events, company picnics, business promotions, holiday celebrations, grand openings, or any occasion where you would like to provide unique family entertainment.

What age group does your train appeal to?

Kids of all ages love our train. At festivals we have about as many adults ride as we do kids. Most of our birthday parties are done for kid’s ages 2 to 9 years old.

How many people can the train carry at one time?

We have a maximum capacity of 24 passengers (kids ages 5-6). The number will depend on the size of the passengers (12 with adults and kids).

Is there an age limit for the train?

Anyone can ride our train. We ask that a parent or older sibling accompany young children. Common sense is your best guide when deciding if a rider is appropriate.

 Do you have insurance?

Yes. We are fully covered.

Where can you operate your train?

Pavement, concrete, grass, and hard-packed dirt or gravel. The train has an electric engine, which allows it to be used indoors. The train is not able to drive over curbs.

Can the train go inside?

Yes. The Big Blue Express is electric so there are no fumes.

Can you operate the train in our neighborhood park?

Neighborhood parks are great places to have a train ride party. You will need to check with your city recreation department to see if it is OK. Most city parks require a fee and proof of insurance to use them. If you plan to use a park, please contact them with the information before hiring us. We will help you work out the details.

Do you charge extra for travel time or mileage?

The first 30 minutes are included and then an additional $25 for each 30 minutes. We calculate from Milton VT.

Will you travel long distances or out of state?

Yes. For all-day events like festivals, we will often travel out of state at no extra charge.

Where are you located?

We are located in Milton, VT.

What forms of payments do you accept?

We accept cash, checks and credit cards.
